Take this course to learn what fire protection systems do and how we can make sure they function as we expect them to during fire emergencies. Objectives
- Identify the definition, purpose and benefits of fire protection systems
- Recall how fire protection systems work including how they detect fire, how the system discharges water, where the water comes from and how responders interact with the system
- Identify wet pipe, antifreeze and dry pipe sprinkler systems, including how antifreeze and dry pipe systems can help prevent frozen pipes
- Recognize the capabilities, functions and modes of fire alarm control panel systems
- Recall ways to reduce the likelihood of unwanted or nuisance alarms
- Identify the purpose, locations and capabilities of fire and emergency command centers and emergency power sources
- Identify what is included in fire protection system acceptance tests and what issues may cause failure
- Recognize who must inspect, test and maintain fire protection systems, as well as how often
- Identify abnormal conditions that require correction and reporting
- Remember what to do and what not to do when fire protection systems are impaired
