You are probably exposed to some level of dust in your workplace, dust that may pose a variety of health hazards. If those hazards are significant enough, your employer will require that you use respiratory protection. If the hazards are minor and protection is not mandated, you can choose to wear a dust mask or filtering facepiece respirator voluntarily. These situations include severe weather, medical emergencies, chemical releases, and bomb threats.
